The Adult Ministry
The cook book crew pauses for a brief break and picture. FYI, there are a few cookbooks still available and they can be ordered by contacting Sandy at Church.
This group began approximately 9 years ago. It was originally intended for people 50 years of age and older and was named The 50+ Ministry. However, last year we changed the name to include all adults and named it The Adult Ministry. Our purpose is to help members of the congregation and community as well as several out-reach programs to far-reaching areas of the world. We also strive to promote camaraderie between our members while we enjoy each other’s company.
Some of our present Outreach activities consist of:
-
Sponsor Health Kit programs. We coordinate the collection and distribution of the kits to people in need throughout the community and the world.
-
Collect and distribute School Supplies for needy children in our own community
-
Assist Sergeant Santa with his toy drive each Christmas
-
Provide a food donation card to a needy family for both the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Season.
-
Assist with various Fund Drives
-
Purchased a banner for the Sanctuary
-
Have teams that make deliveries for Meals-on-Wheels
-
Compiled and sold 250 Cookbooks to raise money for several worthy projects
-
Fill stockings for The Salvation Army at Christmas
-
Sing Christmas carols at local nursing homes

The Group takes a trip to a nearby Nursing Home to sing a few songs and spread some cheer!
We are continually looking for and receptive to new ways we can help our neighbors, our congregation and our friends in other countries.
We have various programs throughout the year – at least one per month. These consist of speakers, dinners, lunches, game afternoon, karaoke (as seen below), theater night and other enjoyable and educational activities. Our meeting dates this year will vary from month to month, depending on the program. No matter what the activity, we always have a good time!

For the next few months of 2010 we have planned the following programs:
June -- (Sunday afternoon after church) -- Pool Party at Laura and Rick Cox's. Date and time to be announced.
July 8 (Thursday at 10:30 am) Primetimers -- Mt. Vernon Baptist -- Lunch and choir songs for July 4.
August -- Adult Ministry on Vacation -- no activities
September -- A very special "Evening With Laura." Have you often wished Laura wouldn't stop after just one solo? Well, here's your chance. Laura Cox will entertain us with mixed melodies for almost an hour. Details to follow later.
